SelectedBest for: Most new projects

Nano Banana 2.1 is an image generation and editing model from Google, released on October 6, 2026. It is an update to Nano Banana 2 and is based on Gemini 3.6 Flash. "Nano Banana" is Google DeepMind's name for its Gemini image models; in the Gemini API this version is gemini-nano-banana-2.1, and Google recommends it over Nano Banana 2 for new projects.

Google positions it as the efficient counterpart to Nano Banana Pro, not a replacement: it costs less per image and scored higher in Google's own editing and infographic tests. Nano Banana 2.1 returns images and text, not video. Developers reach it through Google's Gemini API; this independent site lets you use it in your browser without code or an API key.

HOW IT WORKS
You don't need a Gemini subscription, an API key or any code. Everything happens in the generator at the top of this page.

Write the subject, setting, style, light and any exact words. To edit, switch to Image to Image, upload up to 10 PNG, JPG or WebP images, and describe the change. Name what must stay the same, such as a face or a logo.

Nano Banana 2.1 is the default. Pick Auto or one of 14 aspect ratios, from 1:8 to 8:1, then 1K for quick ideas or 2K and 4K for final images and small text. The credit cost appears before you generate.

Preview the result, download it, or adjust the prompt and run it again. Every image is saved to your dashboard.
FEATURES
Every control in this generator maps to a documented Nano Banana 2.1 option.
Write up to 20,000 characters. A detailed brief helps Nano Banana 2.1 keep composition, style and small details on target.

Swap a background, change an outfit, restyle a photo or place a product in a new scene.

In Google's tests, Nano Banana 2.1 beat Nano Banana 2 and Nano Banana Pro on character and product consistency, ideal for a series with the same person or product.

Google reports better infographic design and accuracy than Nano Banana 2. Put exact words in quotation marks and use 2K or 4K, because small text can still blur at 1K.

Explore ideas at 1K, then move to 2K or 4K for print, product pages and large screens.

Choose from 1:1, 2:3, 3:2, 3:4, 4:3, 4:5, 5:4, 9:16, 16:9, 21:9, 1:4, 4:1, 1:8, 8:1. Tall 1:8 and wide 8:1 frames suit banners, strips and long layouts, or let Auto pick the frame for your prompt.

Good to know: Google's model card notes that small print can blur, left and right can get mixed up, and character consistency is not always perfect. Every image carries Google's invisible SynthID watermark. Mask editing and thinking levels exist in the Gemini API but are not offered in this generator yet.
